Long-term results

Although there are presently few references with current long-term data, high response rates following DEFLUX injection were maintained long-term in one clinical follow-up study. A total of 221 patients were followed over an average of five (2–7.5) years after DEFLUX injection. Overall, 68% of patients demonstrated a long-term positive response, as shown by reflux grade 0–I at their last VCUG, and a lack of clinical recurrence thereafter.1

Most patients showing a response to DEFLUX in the first year after treatment remained free from reflux in the long-term. 49 patients received a late VCUG between two and five years following treatment. This revealed that 96% (43/45) of the ureters which were free from reflux at three or 12 months following treatment remained free from dilating reflux (grade III or above).
